LUCKNOW || Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday expressed reservations at the Citizenship Amendment Bill and announced that this was a ploy of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to “deflect the attention of the people from the real issued faced by the country and its people” and to “divide the society“.
In a Tweet, the former UP chief minister said that the Citizenship Bill was an insult of the constitution and to India. He further slammed the BJP governments in the state and at the centre by saying that all their promises have fallen flat on delivery. “Neither the income of farmers has doubled, nor the Ganga has been cleaned,” he said.
Akhilesh Yadav also blamed the union government of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of not being able to contain the downslide in the economy, neither have they brought back the black money stashed in foreign bank accounts, neither created jobs, neither could save honour of girls, provide security to women and neither have they done anything on development front.
