Ahead Of Cabinet Expansion, Five UP Ministers Put In Their Papers

LUCKNOW || Ahead of the cabinet rejig on Wednesday, five senior ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government put in their papers on Tuesday, an official said. The ministers in the Yogi Adityanath government who resigned on Tuesday include finance minister Rajesh Agarwal, sports and youth affairs minister Chetan Chauhan, Anupama Jaiswal, Mukut Bihari verma and Swati Singh.

Sources said these ministers, owing to poor and average performance in the two-year-plus tenure so far have been eased out at the instructions of the BJP top brass.

As of now, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP state government has 20 cabinet ministers, nine ministers of independent rank and 13 state ministers. It is likely that the rank of some state ministers be elevated to cabinet, a source informed.

State unit chief Swatantra dev Singh, who was the transport minister of Uttar Pradesh had already put in his papers on Monday. Agarwal, confirmed his resignation and said he had done so as he had crossed the age limit set by the party of 75 years and now it was up to the party to accept it or not. This is the first time that the BJP government in UP is witnessing an expansion under Yogi Adityanath.
