AGRA || Moved by visuals of hundreds and thousands of migrant labourers walking barefoot to their homes amid the continuing lockdown, the Agra Police has put up a shoe and slipper stalls.
Media reports say that the Sadar Police in the Taj City has put up banners across that area, directing people to the footwear shop, which in fact is an open kiosk in which hundreds of pairs of slippers and new shoes have been kept.
Senior police officials informed media persons that they were very hurt at seeing people walking barefoot and hence have decided to come up fo the foot stall.
We are urging people and also facilitating them to take buses and trains but some are still walking for several miles to reach their homes.
Agra has been badly hit by the Coronavirus and tops the tally in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Many people have died in road mishaps while they walk several hundred kilometres to reach their homes, spread across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
