LUCKNOW || As the nation woke up to the Maharashtra stunner on Saturday morning as BJP’s Devender Fadnavis and NCP’s Ajit Pawar were sworn in as the chief minister and deputy chief minister, the saffron-robed Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter and greeted the duo.
“Many congratulations to the newly appointed Maharashtra chief minister Devender Fadnavis and his deputy Ajit Pawar. The state of Maharashtra will progress and prosper well under the leadership of these two able leaders” the monk-turned-politician said further.
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma also greeted the two Maharashtra leaders and wished them well. The developments on the weekend shocked many across the nation as till late Friday night, the state was set to have a Shiv Sena-Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance form the next government. NCP chief Sharad Pawar had, in fact, announced that Uddhav Thackeray would be the next chief minister.
His nephew, however, seems to have turned the tables on his wily uncle and sealed a deal with the BJP in which reportedly 22 legislators of the NCP are breaking free from the NCP. Sharad Pawar has distanced himself from the political coup or sorts and said he only came to know of it at 7 am while the chief minister and his deputy Pawar were sworn-in ata round 5:47 am at Raj Bhawan.
