After DGP’s Intervention, UP Police To Probe Death Threat To IPS Officer

LUCKNOW || An FIR has been lodged by the police in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh against a person after he allegedly threatened to “burn alive” senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur.

FIR No 81/2020 under sections 504, 507 IPC and 66C IT Act was registered in Bahariyabad police station, district Ghazipur for use of abusive language and threats given by one Himanshu Singh Rajput of Varanasi to IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.

The case shall be investigated by Sushil Kumar Yadav, Inspector, Bahariyabad, it was informed.

Amitabh had presented a complaint on this matter to Gomtinagar police station on April 6, 2020 where he had said that after his posting a Video related with Izzatnagar, Bareilly regarding the attack on a police outpost and alleged police brutality, Rajput sent him a message on Facebook using extremely dirty words against Amitabh and saying-“It would be a black day for Hinduism when your dead body is burnt. Your entire family is to be burnt alive.”

When the Gomtinagar police did not register the FIR, Amitabh had sent his complaint to DGP, UP. The complaint was enquired by Cyber Cell of DGP office, which directed Bahariyabad police to register the case, after which the FIR has been registered.
