111 Marriage Attendees Test COVID Positive In Bihar, Groom Dies

PATNA || With Unlock 2.0 underway, people, despite warnings for precautions with regards to the dreaded Coronavirus, have become lax and careless. More than 100 people in Bihar’s Patna have paid a heavy price for the laxity as they not only got infected by COVID at a wedding but the bridegroom also died after being infected.

The incident happened in Aliganj. So far 369 persons who attended the marriage have been tested of which 89 have been found to be COVID positive. The cook, vegetable vendors who supplied veggies to the marriage party have also tested positive.

The district authorities are left red-faced on how more than the sealing of 50 people were allowed in the marriage. A probe has been ordered to ascertain if anybody from the administration allowed this event, breaking the guidelines of the Unlock 2.0.

The marriage had taken place on June 15 and the groom died two days later. After some people who attended the wedding showed symptoms of COVID, group sampling was initiated and the shocking discoveries were made. Officials said the deceased groom had come from Delhi to Bihar for the marriage, The families are now being tested for Corona.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Tuesday had urged people not to get casual about the pandemic as it was now more imperative that people take more precautions.
